Xi'an, situated in the centre of the Guangzhong
Plain, is the capital of Shaansi Province.
Xi'an, called Chang'an in ancient times, is one of the famous
ancient capitals of China. It is rich in cultural eleven dynasties,
including Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui and Tang Dynasties, totalling
over 1,000 years. It is rich in cultural relics either on the
surface of below the ground, and has many places of historical
interest, such as : the six-thousand-year-old neolithic village
at banpo, the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum and the Museum of Terra-cotta
Warriors and Horses, the Huangqing Hot Springs, the Dayan Pagoda
and the Xiaoyan Pagoda, the Bell Tower, the Forest of Steles,
and the Qian Mausoleum, etc.
Xi'an, as the starting point of the famous "silk Road",
had long been an important city in the economic and cultural
exchanges between China and the foreign countries.
